Silence, please

When was the last time you had a moment to yourself with no phone, no computer, and no teacher, parent, sibling, friend, co-worker, or boss nagging you to do something? When was the last time you sat still without any worry or expectation?

The world can be very chaotic and noisy. Too many people talking to us. Too many cars driving by. Too many dogs barking. Too many items to check off on our “to-do list.” Too many things pulling at us from every direction.  
 
What do you think it would take to tune it all out? What would you have to do in order to block out the ceaseless chatter and fears inside your head, so you could truly hear your intuition? What would it take for you to trust your intuition and all that it might reveal?
 
SILENCE. Pure disciplined silence, that’s what.
 
We live in a fast-paced, high technology world with constant distractions to keep us busy. But what if you got still and went silent? Would it feel like going rogue? Like you didn’t know how to function without text messaging or getting on Facebook? It’s because we are so obsessed with technology that we MUST disconnect from it all at least once per day. I’m not talking the entire day. I’m talking 10 minutes. The world will still be there when you get back. 

We’re all busy. But everyone has 10 minutes to get quiet. Think of all the distractions you have that occupy 10 minutes. What could you eliminate for 10 minutes a day so you could commit to having your own reflective time? Would it be the extra 10 minutes you spend on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram? Would it mean shutting your computer or television off a little bit earlier? Would it mean waking up 10 minutes earlier? Or going to bed 10 minutes later? Would it take understanding that just 10 minutes of quiet time per day could lead to discovering what you want and how to get it? Would it take realizing that this mere 10 minutes per day might possibly be the answer to the happiness you seek?

In the silence and stillness we hear our intuition.

My dear reader and committed leaper, here it is: 10 minutes just for you. 10 minutes to awaken your intuition, trust in it, and allow it to guide you in the direction of your dreams. Deep down, there is an inner knowing—a voice that wants to be heard. You need not look. You need only listen.
